A weekly status report should take minutes to read and not much longer to write. This template keeps it to one page: where the project stands, what moved this week, what is coming next, and what you need from your sponsor.

Start with the overall RAG and three short sentences. Then list what was completed, what is planned for next week, the top risks and issues, and any decision you need. Anything longer belongs in the RAID log or the plan, not the weekly update.

If you would rather not start from a blank page, paste your rough notes into the free Pocket PMO report builder and it drafts this report for you to edit, with PDF and PowerPoint downloads.

The PDF is fine. The live version is better: auto-fill from your project, full audit trail on every change, AI Project Team drafts the tricky sections, and steering committees see one canonical version, not a stale spreadsheet copy.
